Lower Herring Lake - Watervale Resort

An existing failed wooden seawall was removed and an Envirolok Bag soft engineering system was used instead.
Watervale Resort had a failed wooden seawall falling into the lake.  Traverse Outdoor from Transverse City was contacted to install a soft engineering system replacement.  They suggested using Envirolok bags down the slope with a fiber core log at the base of the slope submerged into the water.  This system has proved to be successful so far.  Between the bags and upland of the slope Misty Ridge and Designs in Bloom installed a variety of native grasses, perennials, and shrubs with deep roots to help hold the slope.
